Stephanie Smart-
Veterinary Assistant
Our Staff
The staff members of Pioneer Paws Veterinary Clinic
(PPVC) work each and every day to bring you the
quality pet care your furry family member deserves.
They work both during appointments and behind the
scenes to ensure the health, safety, and comfort of
each pet is the number one priority.  However, behind
the lab coats, scrubs, and the ever-so-becoming splash
goggles, there is a team of ordinary people working to
bring your pet the best health care possible.
Make no mistakes about it, the staff does have a pretty
good time at work each day.  There's almost always
something to learn at PPVC.

Dr. Songster grew up in Frewsburg, NY.  She obtained her BS in
Science degree from SUNY Cortland and her DVM degree from North
Carolina State University.  After several years in private practice in
veterinary clinics around western New York, Dr. Songster opened
Pioneer Paws Veterinary Clinic in April of 2009.  She has been hard
at work ever since.   Dr. Songster has several pets of her own
including two cats, Jerry and Elvira, and two horses, Runaway
Emotions (a.k.a. Mo) and RA Tuxcel (a.k.a. Tutt).  In her "abundant"
free time,  Dr. S. enjoys riding horses and attending horse shows
with her daughter, reading, hiking, canoeing, swimming, and
vacationing with her family.

Dr. S. goes to town for every patient, making sure that their owners
are aware of the best ways to take care of them.  In fact, educating
pet owners and being there for the owners in the time of need are
the two things that the Doc likes most about her job.

Jim grew up in Jacobstown, New Jersey and attended Northern
Burlington County Regional High School.  Jim then attended SUNY
Geneseo and he finally obtained his B.S. in Forestry and Natural
Resource Management from
 SUNY College of Environmental Science
& Forestry.
Jim married Dr. Songster in 1993.    Jim is known as the "people
person" of the hospital, which is why it didn't surprise us when he
said that the favorite part about his job is getting to know the
clients and their pets.  And though busting poor Jim's chops is a
specialty of PPVC staff, we know we would be quite the wayward
group without him.
